Fully agree with you Michael. Niall really knows to make a difference in architecture. Truly, he is quite an individual, make no mistakes.
That is a such of excellent architectural approach; the use of those panels does not only have highly ornamental effects but also, it reflects a clear illustration of what kind of results can be found mixing texture and form. Niall McLaughlin is only of those 'few' that can easily achieve something of this scale. His work has always been characterised to highly desirable levels of aesthetic, in where his self expression is presented as a clear analogy between appearance and good thoughts. One of his first projects -15 years ago, at Carmelite Monastery in Kensington reveals that from a very early commence, his potential for creating striking geometries was not merely accidental. No surprised of why two years after (in 1998) he was selected as the UK Young Architect of the Year.
Great work. Very nicely finished with a good attention to details. I love the way the door slides into the double side protective frame. Well done
Simply terrible! A perfect example of how to waste £460 million injecting it in a horrendous piece of 'architecture'
Glad to know the jury appreciated the recent intervention by Nieto Sobejano Architects in Cordoba, Southern Spain. In this video Studio Banana TV features part of the winning project along an interview with the directors practice: http://bit.ly/gCmsEK

Bright and joyful; as all school's designs should be!
