MIPIM: So many big names, so little time...

Architecture’s biggest names lined-up to run late-night, non-stop ‘death by powerpoint’

This year’s MIPIM will witness its first Pecha Kucha – the frenzied ‘show and tell’ fun-fest made popular in Japan.

The profession’s good and the great, including the likes of Ken Shuttleworth, Sunand Prasad and Tom Bloxham will get just six minutes and 40 seconds to showcase 20 slideshow images as part of a continous stream of super-quick mini-lectures at Cannes’ Hotel Majestic.

Pecha Kucha-organiser Peter Murray of Wordsearch admits the event is ‘very sadistic.’ He said: ‘It is a fantastic way of making a point and stopping architects from talking too long.

‘Because the slides are moving so fast it makes people nervous and so the audience [and speakers] are on the edge of their seats’

The first event, which is kick-started by Murray, will be held on Wednesday night with a ‘grande finale’ on the Thursday. AJ editor Kieran Long is among the ‘lecturers’ - the full list of all the runners and riders is below.
