Milord Rogers waits in line

Share some sympathy for Richard Rogers, who spent all day last Thursday at Westminster waiting for the RIBA-backed amendment to the Localism Bill to be debated in the House of Lords

Rogers was to speak in favour of design review and ensuring that neighbourhood groups give due regard to good design.

With sessions in the Lords lasting on average six and a half hours, his sacrifice of fee-earning time did little to quash claims Localism will mean architects working for free. Unfortunately, the bill was rescheduled for this week.
