Milan's 51st International Furniture Fair

Milan is preparing itself for the next week’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furniture Fair, now in its 51st year

It is the world’s largest design and home accessories exhibition and will host over 2,500 exhibitors and expects to welcome over 300,000 visitors.

This year’s exhibition will be made up of five separate “saloni” or showrooms; as well as the eponymous Furniture Fair there is the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, the International Bathroom Exhibition, Eurocucina, (for kitchen furniture and designs) and SaloneSatelite (exhibiting products by young and emerging designers).

This year’s SaloneSatellite, the 15th year that an exhibition space has been dedicated to the works of emerging designers, will be informed by the title: ‘Design<->Technology’, and a competition will be held for the three most outstanding kitchen and bathroom products in each of the two categories.

Apart from the main exhibition at Rho, other parts of Milan will also be home to exhibitions and creative installations, with the areas around Via Tortona and Lambrate especially popular with visiting designers.
