Meet the scholars: Nick Ackers

Posted by:

10 June, 2009

Nick was adopted from an orphanage in Romania and, as a baby, came to live in Birmingham. Probably as a result of his start in life, he has struggled to achieve academically, though he always harboured a dream of becoming an architect.

Nick (age 19) commenced A Levels and towards the end of his first year was persuaded by his tutor to move to a B Tec National 3D Design course, which he commenced in September 2007 at Sutton Coldfield Design Centre. Despite the recent death of his father, he has been completely committed to his studies and predicts excellent grades.

Unfortunately, Nick has not received an interview for any of his university choices. But he remains resilient and is determined to fulfil his dream of becoming an architect. He believes that his studies at Harvard will help him win his coveted university place.
