Liverpool lie-in

Visitors to BIQ Architecten’s Bluecoat building in Liverpool will be encouraged to jump into bed to promote peace and celebrate what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday with a ‘bed-in’

The arts centre will see poets, musicians and the Cake Liberation Front continue Lennon’s non-violent protests for peace in a double bed.

The Yoko Ono-endorsed project will last 62 days, from 9 October (Lennon’s birthday) to 9 December (the UK date of his assassination 30 years ago). Ono said: ‘I think it’s wonderful. There should be many discussions with the visitors of the bed, just like there were at the time John and I did it.’ Perhaps some of the couple’s famous eccentricity will rub off…
