Kohn floats ‘Skyroom’ residential conversion plans

David Kohn is planning to transform the 140m2 ‘pop-up’ Skyroom above the Architecture Foundation’s home in London into a permanent apartment

The £150,000 steel and copper mesh structure – also designed by Kohn – opened as a temporary rooftop events space during the London Design Week in 2010.

Client and owner Roger Zogolovitch of Lakes Estates now hopes to transform the ETFE-roofed building into an apartment which would be rented out and not sold.

Zogolovitch said Kohn’s continued role in the project was ‘excellent’ for the company.

Kohn said: ‘Conversations are underway with the planners so watch this space.’
