Zoo quest

The Mappin Terraces at London Zoo provided the location for Peter Cook's very jolly retirement party last week. He appeared in a bear outfit, shed later in the evening because 'I was sweating like a pig', as he wittily put it. An army of supporters past and present, particularly from the Bartlett, were there to wish him well, after teaching some 10,000 students in the course of his career and, by his own estimate, reviewing some 30,000 portfolios. He compared the unit system to the various sections of the zoo: some jumping up and down to attract attention, others working away scarcely observed.
