Zaha Hadid Architects

Zaha Hadid Architects has been shortlisted to design a new Congress Centre in Cordoba, Spain. The practice's scheme (above right) is up against Rem Koolhaas, Toyo Ito and Spanish architects Rafael Moneo and Cruz & Ortiz (above left). The project is part of an effort by the city authority to rejuvenate the banks of the Guadalquivir River. The new building - to incorporate a visitors'centre, conference venue and 250-room hotel - is designed to link the historic town to the north of the river with the newer settlements to the south.
