Women in Sustainable Architecture: Trish Andrews

Course leader on the part 2 course at the Centre for Alternative Technology

Trish Andrews is programme leader on the Professional Diploma in Architecture with Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) and has taught on the course since its inception in 2008. Through teaching, Andrews has passed on her concern with the search for globally sustainable, equitable and ecologically sound ways of building. The course promotes innovative ways of encouraging learning, constantly changing and challenging established thinking as architecture adapts to climate change.

Andrews said: ‘It is the embedded sustainable ethos of the course and the practical, hands-on experience, which seems to be what students enjoy the most.’

She has written about this innovative form of architectural pedagogy for The Architectural Review.

Previously, she worked as an environmental building consultant at CAT.
