lBrighton and Hove City Council believes Frank Gehry's tower proposals for the King Alfred waterfront site in Hove will inject up to £23 million a year into the local economy. Planners argue that this wealth will be from tourists attracted by the 'extraordinary' 438apartment scheme.

l Television presenter Griff Rhys Jones was behind the £20 million restoration of the Hackney Empire Theatre, which reopened last week.
