Northwest-based developer Urban Splash has stepped in to save Morecambe's Midland Hotel, designed by Oliver Hill in 1933.

The Art Deco building - which has stood empty since November 2000 - has been the subject of a campaign to save it by the Twentieth Century Society.

Urban Splash said that it was exploring a number of ideas for how the building could be restored.
