A right-wing think tank has issued a report attacking Britain's planning system and blaming it for the shortage of affordable homes. The Policy Exchange group, which is associated with the Conservative Party, is claiming that a 'Soviet-style' planning regime has resulted in the UK population living in 'some of the smallest, oldest and costliest homes in the developed world'.
