Tough times

astragal

As discussed elsewhere in this issue (see page 12), CABE had a torrid time of it in 2004, losing its first chairman, who showed grace under fire as false accusations flew thick and fast. Still, the organisation found out who its friends were, and it was amusing to note the number of its critics anxious to attend its fifth anniversary party. Departing chairman Stuart Lipton is, of course, still in demand from the public sector for his sage advice, and it's good to know he approves of his successor, John Sorrell, whose arrival means CABE ends the year on a high.
