THE HISTORY OF A TROUBLED PRACTICE 5.2.04 - A mutiny at Aukett's AGM by a group of foreign shareholders, led by Jose Luis Ripoll, targets the three directors blamed for moving the company's focus away from Europe.

18.3.04 - Aukett staff allegedly threaten strike action in support of the company's senior managers, who are coming under increasing pressure to stand down.

8.4.04 - Following the revolt, four members of the board are removed and Ripoll becomes chief executive with the backing of Michael Aukett and former chairman Andrew Lett.

1.7.04 - Despite poor trading figures, Ripoll is adamant that the shake-up was justified.

30.9.04 - Speculation is rife that the company is seeking a merger with another major practice to bring stability to the group.

2.12.04 - News emerges that the firm is in merger talks with Fitzroy Robinson.
