THE FRUIT OF ALSOP'S ORANGERY LABOURS IS SHUNNED

LETTERS

Whatever happened to context? Have the planners gone completely mad? They spend their time quibbling about minor additions to indifferent old buildings, and then let SMC Alsop's desecration of poor old Wakefield's poor old Orangery go through (AJ 13.04.06).

Is it just because Will Alsop is not affecting the listed building's fabric? In theory, there may be no interference, but one can scarcely expect to enjoy the symmetry and calm beauty of the building with that giant alien glazed wafe casting a shadow from above.
