Lord Foster himself was spotted joining the corporate guests at Wembley. Nattily attired all in black, Foster took great pleasure in showing the other spectators around his newly opened arena.

But he was left scrabbling for answers when a BBC correspondent popped the question Norman was dreading - who was he going to support: Manchester United or Chelsea?

'Well, ' Norm started, 'I was born in Manchester but I live in Chelsea. So I've got a foot in both camps.' Come on Normski! That's just fencesitting of the highest order.
