Stowe Visitor Project, Buckingham
The National Trust wishes to appoint a consortium design team (or multi-disciplinary practice) to produce the plans and specifications and act as contract administrator for the adaptation of New Inn at Stowe Landscape Gardens for a range of visitor facilities including: car parks and roads, reception area, retail space with storage, restaurant and kitchen, plant sales, community and education space, toilets, hard and soft landscaping.
All designs must meet the NT's conservation and environmental principles. The design team will be directly appointed by the National Trust and will be required to undertake a lead consultant role, architectural design, landscape design and engineering design (civils, structural, infrastructure, ground investigations, acoustic, mechanical & electrical, lighting and environmental sustainability). It will be appointed from RIBA Stage C (or equivalent) through to completion of the construction contract, but should note that internal sign-off by the NT's Board of Trustees will be required at agreed stages and in line with the agreed cost plan. It is anticipated that full design services will be required for a traditional form of building contract procurement.
The appointment will include any other design tasks that are required to progress and complete the Stowe Visitor Project. Please note that the appointment of the highways designer has already been made directly by The National Trust and does not form part of this contract.
