Square deal

Now we are told to expect the pedestrianised Trafalgar Square to be reopened this summer, thoughts turn elsewhere. When they first unveiled the World Squares Programme, Ken's mob promised they'd make over Parliament Square when they'd finished outside the National Gallery. This appears to have been a porky.

Sources tell me there are no immediate plans to disrupt the dozing backbenchers with the sound of bulldozers. One wag remarked it has become more an 'if ' than a 'when'.Talk about setting the sights too high. What a shame.
