Sorry, but China has already been conquered

With reference to the article about Foster's Shanghai Prize (AJ 27.2.03) we would like to point out that:

The Jiushi headquarters building is neither the 'first project by a British architect in China'or Shanghai - or even Pudong.

British architects were active in China at the end of the 19th century and into the 20th in Beijing (Peking) and Shanghai. Think of the Bund.

The first building by a British architect in Pudong was by us.

We designed and built a gateway to a new park in Pudong [pictured], completed in 1998.
