Sixties club

Former AA president Michael Foster held a splendid dinner for his 60th birthday at the excellent Stargazer restaurant (don't let the name put you off ) in Rathbone Place.

He was en famille, with guests including brother Tim, the theatre architect, and AJ contributor Sutherland Lyall, who proposed the toast.

I noticed the clerk to the House of Lords in attendance, but no heads of architecture schools.

Since Mike is secretary to Schosa, I suppose he felt that if he invited one he would have had to invite them all - and that was too much like hard work.

Architecture is obviously in the blood: son Tom (one of three) has just completed his diploma at the Bartlett.
