Six on shortlist for landmark Leaside bridge

Leaside Regeneration has shortlisted six teams to design a new 'landmark bridge' over the River Lea in London.

Future Systems, Ian Ritchie Architects, McDowell + Benedetti, Niall McLaughlin Architects, engineering firm Whitby Bird and Italy's Filippo Broggini have all won the right to move to the competition's next phase.

Leaside Regeneration chief executive Paul Brickell said the winning scheme will form part ofeast London's Olympic Games 2012 bid. 'This bridge will be a focal point for the lower Lea area, ' he said. 'Any masterplan of the Leaside area will have to take it into account'. A winner will be chosen in July.
