Sarah Chaplin is head of the School of Architecture and Landscape at Kingston University. She is a qualified architect and has a Masters in Architecture and Critical Theory and is also a director of the design consultancy evolver.

She was previously senior lecturer in Visual Culture and Media at Middlesex University, where she set up the MA Digital Architecture course in 1998. She is currently fi nishing a book about Japanese spatial culture, and working on a book about post-urban environments with Eric Holding.
