Sainsbury Centre is still a source of pleasure

I have enjoyed Norman Foster's Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and the Sainsbury Collection it contains for all of its 25 years - and couldn't disagree more profoundly with Andrew Mead's account (AJ 14.8.03). Just to be in that space is a rare pleasure and each item in the collection, even tiny ones, can be seen with delight and without obstruction.

I have just photographed that very pair of 200-year-old Chinese earthenware 'mythical beasts' for Lisa and Norman and could see them perfectly.

The wealth and range of the collection, in that setting, is a renewed and always rewarding experience.
