Jo Rippon Architects, with artist Sophie Smallhorn, was one of four winners in a RIBA competition to design a viewing platform, or panopticon, in east Lancashire.The practice - whose winning design is in Blackburn - was one of 188 architects and designers to enter.

Other winners included architect Peter Meacock Central Workshop for a design in Pendle and landscape architect John Kennedy for a panopticon in Accrington.

Students from the Mackintosh School of Architecture also won a prize for their Ribble Valley design.
