Forgotten Spaces Sheffield 2011: Shortlist – Gleadless Golf by Click Industrial Design Ltd

A multi-storey driving range and community centre with the latest gaming equipment enables the user to predict how far their shot would have gone with experts on hand to perfect their technique

This proposal brings the 1960s architecture to modern day by converting it into a multi-storey golf driving range, retail and community space. The first two floors of the building would be completely redeveloped into a two level short distance driving range.

The driving range would be manned by local residents who can train up to managerial level. A non-contact sport could be beneficial to the local residents bringing together members of all different age groups from the community, providing a fun activity and creating a lively community atmosphere.

The row of shops in front and to the left of the driving range would be converted into 8 units, offering redeveloped retail spaces for the current shop owners and an incubation space for new businesses in the area.
