RIBA absentia

Why does the RIBA not attend MIPIM in force?

One senior figure in the profession wondered why it neglects to attend one of the biggest networking events in the construction and property calendar, when it chooses to organise a conference talking to architects, all the while professing that it is important to spread the message about UK architects and architecture far and wide. Other organisations are out in force, not least CABE, whose Jon Rouse sped from stand to stand disseminating its good work and plans. But the Institute's response appears to be 'no Cannes do', apart from two representatives from its competitions office.
