Regal regalement

One of Astragal's most long-standing spies had a seriously odd architectural experience at an unnamed bash last week. Seeing the regal presence of Prince Edward drift into the room, our source made a beeline for him, understandably assuming an architectural debate was on the cards given his older brother's all too famous opinions. 'What do you make of the Swiss Re building, your highness?' was our friend's opening gambit.

Apparently, this question received a blank unknowing response from he of the blue blood. Not one to be put off, our spy had another go. 'The Erotic Gherkin, sir?' Again, absolutely nothing came back. Desperate at this point to elicit at least some flicker of recognition for London's newest and most popular skyscraper, our man reached for a pen and some paper and briefly sketched its world-famous outline.

Astonishingly, the Prince still simply couldn't figure out which building was being discussed. It's hard to decide which we should prefer: the overtly confrontational, and arguably misinformed, opinions of Prince Charles or the astonishing ignorance of his younger sibling. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
