Should have been in Yorkshire but ended up in Rochford Hospital.

What is your favourite building and why?

Vals baths, Switzerland, by Peter Zumthor - sublime.

What is your favourite restaurant?

Moro, Exmouth Market, London.

What vehicle(s) do you own?

A VW Golf, but the bus is my choice for central London.

What is your favourite film?

City of God.

What is your favourite book?

Kicked a Building Lately? By Ada Louise Huxtable.

What is your favourite 'design classic'?

The Mercedes SL convertible.

What is the worst building you've ever seen and why?

Do you mean last week, last month or last year?

Who or what is your biggest architectural influence and why?

Ted Cullinan - for bringing buildings alive with his incredibly simple sketching technique.

Who is the most talented architect you've worked with?

Ken Allinson (can be bloody hard work sometimes though! ).

If you hadn't done what you are doing, what would you have been?

A glider.

What would your advice be to architectural students?

Work with kids - it's the quickest way to learn how to communicate and present your ideas.

What would your motto be?

'If you don't succeed, try, try again' - but then I am a Capricorn.
