Protect your name

The callsign for California-based Rios Clementi Hale Studios is http://rchstudios.com. It's probably not intentional but this is perilously close to the name of Italian practice Archstudios. Add an 'A' or lose an 'A' and you get the other's site.

Actually 'archstudio' appears nearly 30,000 times on Google so if you are as bad a typist as I am the dice are loaded in favour of getting one of them. When I Googled the site it turned out to also own the similar address http://www..rchstudios.com – that is, with the very common prefix www.

I was reminded that it's a good idea for you to buy the spread of websites surrounding your name including http://whatsit.com and http://www.whatsit.com (if you click through you will find these are real sites for the same organisation) - and dot org and dot buz and dotnet and dot co.uk.

Obviously the purveyors and renters of web addresses would like you to take out lots and lots at whatever is the going rate, but if you're big and the credit crunch hasn't yet hit, maybe spending less than a grand a year is worth it if only to keep the website ransomers at bay.
