The Desimpel range of natural clay brick facings is to be extended with six new stock bricks, following demand from developers and the self- build market. All Character bricks, made using the soft mud process and European clays, are manufactured in uk sizes and 50mm thickness. Reminiscent in look and texture of many old niche facings, each brick in the new range bears a Shakespearean name - the Falstaff Antique Medium Red Multi, the Othello Blue Blend, the Montague Mixture, the Oberon Bronze, the Midsummer Yellow and the Hathaway Brindled.

Home Ventilation's Drimaster 5 low-energy positive input ventilation (lepiv) unit is the subject of the first major government-backed study into the energy implications and effectiveness of lepiv systems. lepiv systems supply air into a dwelling from the roof space, to overcome condensation and mould problems, but the true energy impact of these systems is not understood. Because the air is warmed by solar gain and heat loss, they are thought to use less energy than systems that bring in outside air.
A most ingenious application of Sarnafil single-ply roofing membranes was conceived by the maintenance projects group of Suffolk County Council architects department for the refurbishment of Thurlesdon High School in Ipswich. To prevent continuous water penetration through the porous, degraded and ugly concrete panels and columns on the south elevation, the walls were treated as a vertical roof, installing Sarnafil g410-12el single-ply membrane.
