n its year-ending financial report for 2002, the Geberit Group, the European market leader in piping and sanitary systems, declared a 9.3 per cent turnover growth to 1,273 million Swiss francs resulting from both organic growth and acquisitions. A combination of thick, heavy concrete and a double helping of Medite MDF panels, plus a composite roof, have ensured excellent acoustic properties and fire security for Mahoney Hall in Dublin, one of Europe's newest concert venues. The wood-panelled interior comprises 18mm Class 0 Medite flame-retardant MDF veneered in steamed beech with a clear, flame-retardant coating.

When Govanhill Housing Association was granted permission to convert Glasgow's Royal Samaritan Hospital, one of the architect's main priorities was to ensure that the materials chosen were in keeping with the Grade B-listed building's original features. Due to the prominence of the roof, it was particularly important that the roofing materials were durable and heavily gauged, while still complementing the appearance of the Victorian building, which is why the architects chose SSQ Matacouta slate.
SAINT-GOBAIN SOLAGLAS/VANCEVA DESIGN AJ ENQ NO: 207
Saint-Gobain Solaglas has joined the current Solutia UK partnership to produce laminated architectural glass with Vanceva Design, a new range of coloured, patterned and textured polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers specifically creted for laminated glass.
The Vanceva Design range comprises PVB interlayers which have the same robust properties as clear standard laminated glass made with Saflex, the leading PVB interlayer manufactured by Solutia.
SENIOR ALUMINIUM SYSTEMS AJ ENQUIRY NO: 208
The three-storey Post Office SSL call centre in Barnsley was enveloped with more than 1,000m 2ofSenior Aluminium Systems' SCW curtain wall to create the 12m-high glass facade. Powder-coated grey, the curtain wall was specified to incorporate SW 400 top-hung opening lights.
EVER EDGE AJ ENQUIRY NO: 206
Predicted changes to our current climate are already being experienced by some of the UK's finest historic and private gardens, with heavy rainfall during the past few winters and periods of summer drought impacting on the way they grow. Security and fire steel-door specialist Accenthansen supplied and installed 420 doors from its Multishield and Fireshield ranges at The Walks Shopping Centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire.
