Stride Treglown works on a full spectrum of building types and sizes. We are a predominantly architectural practice with other team members including interior and graphic designers, town planners and building surveyors. Our capabilities continue to grow in areas such as landscape architecture and project management and this blend of professionals makes for a vibrant workplace.
We are delighted to have had plenty of recognition for our successes recently. In the last year we have won: Best Sustainable Development in the Daily Telegraph's What House Awards 2006, for Great Bow Yard in Langport, Somerset (above); the Welsh Housing Award 2006, given by the RSAW for Esplanade House, Porthcawl; and our peers voted us Architect of the Year at the South West Commercial Property Awards.
How long has the practice been in existence and what is the mix of ages?
Stride Treglown has 50 years of history and several of us have been here longer than we care to admit! Today's directors are yesterday's architectural students, which shows our attitude towards career progression. The wide mix of ages in the practice makes for a great team-working ethos.
What benefits do you offer staff?
Working with talented and friendly teams on a variety of interesting projects. All the usual benefits apply, with the more unusual ranging from green-themed CPDs, to a cycle scheme and tai chi on the lawn. Not forgetting, of course, the all-important Christmas and summer parties.
Which CAD packages do you use?
The latest CAD and Revit, for which we offer full training.

Name Claire Allen Status Architectural assistant Part 2 Education University of Bath When did you join the practice?
2006 What do you like about working there?
I wanted to work for a practice that could invest in me as a student and provide me with opportunities for skills development. At Stride Treglown there is plenty of opportunity if you want it. They are currently helping me through my Part 3, providing seminars and mentoring. As the practice is large there is plenty of scope for working on a small or large project, working in a small or large team. The social side of the team structure is also good, and I'm getting to see lots of different projects happening side by side.
I can develop my creative potential within the industry alongside people who have the knowledge and experience to guide me.
