A new tool called Plot2PDF is now available which converts AutoCAD, DWG and DXF, HP-GL and HPGL/2, PLT and CGM files into the PDF file format that can then be opened with free-access Acrobat viewer.Among the benefits of PDF files are:

security - PDFs are unlikely to be corrupted by emailing or viruses;

design integrity - a PDF drawing cannot be edited, only viewed and printed; and linexpensive - you don't need the originating CAD program, just the free Acrobat Reader.

A specific benefit of Plot2PDF is that unlike most other PDF file generators, it creates and saves PDF as vector graphics, which means that the CAD quality of the drawing is retained even when the viewer zooms in or the drawing is plotted out in detail.

It will convert drawings individually or as a batch and can be used from a command line. Its batchprocessing facility will convert hundreds of drawings at once.

A free working demo is downloadable from www. softcover. com
