Pimlico passport

Postscript to the many appropriate tributes to the late great Philip Powell: after the success of the Churchill Gardens project in Pimlico, Powell and Moya were invited to design the Lillington Gardens estate, but said they were too busy. Powell suggested an architectural competition, and was then asked to set the brief, which he did. He then designed a scheme - to see if the brief worked! Darbourne and Darke won the subsequent competition, and a little bit of housing history was made.
