Key initiatives in 2006 include the Formica Design a Laminate Competition and Student Design Competition.

The company will again be exhibiting at 100% Design in September. The 2006 Formica Design a Laminate competition's judging panel consists of Max Hutchinson, architect, former head of the RIBA and broadcaster; Vicky Richardson, editor of Blueprint; and Eva Hoernisch, European design markets manager at Formica. The Formica Student Design Competition looks at furniture design and is linked with the Fashion and Textile Museum in London. The competition is incorporated into the spring terms of participating universities and colleges, and students are asked to design furniture for the retail and cafÚ areas of the museum.
