To Rotterdam for the revived RIBA Annual Conference, led by incoming president George Ferguson - two days of case studies and serious chat about Urban Regeneration in Holland's second city, bombed to smithereens between 1939 and 1945 and now one of Europe's most innovative cities. From the café of Hotel New York, the onetime HQ of the Holland-America Line, new Rotterdam's towers shimmered in the heat haze.Those staying at this hotel followed barmeister Tom Bloxham to night-time treats on Thursday.The Urban Splash supremo conducted a relentless and thoroughly architectural tour concluding in a male lap-dancing club. But Friday saw the partygoers bright-eyed and raring to go.
