As an organisation, Open House seems most vital when it allows the opportunity for people to visit something that is not usually accessible. In other words, it never seems like a great idea to go to a building that you could visit at any other time of the year. However, I’m not unusual in wanting to gain access to places that one only understands and appreciates in terms of their relationship to the public realm.

This year, there are two places I will attempt to visit. One is Inigo Jones’ Garden Court Chambers, to experience its intriguing elliptical staircase at first hand. The second is Centre Point. I see it everyday from my studio window in the West End, but I have always wanted to experience it from the inside and see the undoubtedly spectacular views it offers.
