Ben Adams of Nissen Adams selects the Royal College of Physicians
11 St Andrew’s Place, Regents Park, NW1 4LE, Sun 10am-4pm, free
Denys Lasdun’s Royal College of Physicians offers beauty, contrast and late modernist complexity at the southern entrance to Regent’s Park. The elevated upper volume stands on a pair of square columns, with long cantilevers to the corner of the block and largely unglazed facades to tempt the visitor in. When you do step inside, through the entrance hall to the spaces beyond, the real, controlled drama of the building is revealed.
