Alan Dunlop: Capital City Academy

Alan Dunlop of Gordon Murray + Alan Dunlop selects the Capital City Academy

Doyle Gardens, NW10 3ST, Sat 10am-2pm, free

Given the opportunity of Open House 2009, I’d visit buildings that I wouldn’t normally be able to look round on a trip to London. At Gordon Murray + Alan Dunlop (gm+ad), we’re currently researching schools, so I would visit three very different projects that are considered exemplary in that area. The first would be Norman Foster’s Capital City Academy, the practice’s first school and supposedly a ‘new type of secondary school for the 21st century’. It looks like a high-spec office development for an IT company. I’d like to see how it performs as a school.
