ON THE BEACH

Ralph Maynard Smith studied at the AA in the 1920s and went on to collaborate with Howard Robertson on the Shell Centre on London's South Bank - not a building that has won many friends. But he was also a prolific artist, and some of his paintings and drawings will be on show at Hull University Art Gallery from 15 November-17 December.
