Office politics

The Independent on Sunday had an interesting piece on the future of the workplace. 'It is fitting that Ricky Gervais has announced that there will not be another series of The Office, because everything it depicted if current trends are to be believed, is shortly to go the way of the mullet. The office of the future will be a kinder, gentler place, and will look like one of those eplanets where Captain Kirk was always fetching up'.

That's as maybe, but it is true that the environment depicted by Ricky has a curious '70s feel. On the other hand, anyone who visits large numbers of offices will know that this is still reality. Architecture is a slow business.
