Non-inclusive industry does women a disservice

As a Dutch urban designer who only joined the UK planning system two years ago, I am still absolutely appalled by the lack of women in planning, architecture and developing practices. What is wrong with the universities that they hardly attract women?

Or, what is wrong with 'the system' that so few women lead practices? Unfortunately, your feature article of profiled architecture firms by photograper Tim Soar (AJ 16.9.04) shows no women at all, except one on the cover. I find it deplorable that the AJ chose to take this noninclusive approach.
