Arik Ben Simhon launches new chair collection

Tel Aviv designer Arik Ben Simhon presents a new collection of furniture and upholstery inspired by protective sports gear

To be launched during this year’s Milan furniture fair, Tel Aviv designer Arik Ben Simhon has designed a new collection of furniture and upholstery inspired by the protective pads worn for hockey and skateboarding.

The collection will be launched at Superstudio’s Temporary Museum for New Design at Zona Tortona during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the world’s largest design fair, in Milan (22-27 April).

Regarding the new collection, Simhon said, ‘Sport was pivotal in fashion since the 1970s, with functional high performance sport clothing moving from the sport hall and streets to high fashion context.’

‘I wanted to capture this with furniture that is made to the highest quality but that maintains a cool informal edge,’ Simhon said.
