2012 Olympic Torch makes international debut in Milan
The first international exhibition of the London 2012 Olympic Torch will take place at the Milan Furniture Fair
The Olympic Torch was designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and will be exhibited at the Triennale di Milano during the fair.
The Olympic Torch is made out of aluminium alloy and is perforated with 8,000 circles to represent the 8,000 people who will take part in the Olympic Torch Relay in the 70 days before the start of the Games.
The torch’s trilateral form represents the fact that this is the third time the Olympic Games will be hled in London, that the Olympic motto is: ‘faster, higher, stronger’, and that the vision of the London event centres on ‘sport, education and culture’.
