I was pleased to see gm + ad's development proposed for a key unused site in Glasgow's central urban grid (AJ 10.05.07) but was somewhat bafed by the text accompanying the pictures and wondered if it was a description of a different scheme.

The idea of a 'memory veil' appealed: the phrase brought to mind a thin interactive light-filled surface or screen that would engage with the streets and people surrounding. However, I was more than a little disappointed when I read that the memory veil is little more than the maintaining of a building line.

The 'existing brick box' screens the cinema halls and is an impressively featureless facade of brick. If this were to be knocked down my memory of it would certainly not be a diagonally braced steel and glass structure. Am I missing something here?
