Make my hair day, punk

Brother-and-sister partnership Forster Inc has completed this £12,500 fit-out for a hair-styling teaching academy and video-editing suite in London's Curtain Road.

Forster Inc opted for a vibrant scheme - 'the trick, ' says Jonathan Forster, 'is not to be scared of experimenting with vibrant colour and pattern'.

Materials are influenced by the client's love of punk: blocks of tartan, fake fur, and leopardskinpatterned wallpaper collide with an asymmetrical arrangement of storage units. The floor appears to have been dipped in blue paint, while reception and office areas in the two corners have been dunked in a deep orange.

The scheme was put together from thumbnail sketches: 'It was such a low budget that we didn't bother with measured drawings.'
