M3 Architects given go-ahead for housing scheme

M3 Architects has been given the go-ahead for this high-density housing scheme opposite the Grade-II listed entrance to Arsenal football club. The £4.5 million project in Highbury, north London, will transform the site of a former bakery into 10 new homes.

Though the 1,000m 2 plot already had permission for six houses, the practice negotiated a higher density on the site 'by excluding cars and by keeping the visual impact of the new development below the highest point of the existing buildings'. Work on the Conewood Street site is due to start early next year and should be completed by November 2007.
