LOTTERY SALES DIP TO SINK NATIONAL YACHTING CENTRE

The drop in Lottery ticket sales is threatening FaulknerBrowns' £6.4 million National Sailing Centre in Weymouth.

The Royal Yachting Association said its scheme - to convert a disused Royal Navy yard into a national centre of excellence - is in doubt.A spokesman said a cash shortage at the project's chief backer, Sport England - which has suffered a reported drop in Lottery funding from £250 million in 1998 to £170 million this year - has caused 'a real problem' for the development.
