LDF 2010: Skyroom

Designed by David Kohn Architects, the Skyroom is a new rooftop venue at the Architecture Foundation

A bespoke structure constructed of steel, with copper mesh facades, larch flooring and an Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene roof, The Skyroom provides a new outdoor events venue for The Architecture Foundation. The Skyroom features a central courtyard, open to the sky, and a balcony cantilevered over Tooley Street.

The venue launches during London Design Week with a series of talks and events. The first talk, Building without Bureaucracy, on 21 September builds on the success of the space itself and discusses the possibilities of increasing capacity when faced with the planning control and pressures of a conservation area such as the London Borough of Southwark.
